Saved Lists

A saved list allows you to create either dynamic lists or static list of students, parents or both. This list can then be used to send messages.

Regardless who you add to the list you can choose whether to send the message to students or parent at the time you are sending the list. See the How It Works section.

With a static list you add contacts (either students or parents). This list will never change. For example you may add

  • John Brown (student)
  • Mary Brown (student)
  • Marta Kent (parent)

to a list named List One, as long as these students and parents are still “in school” they will be on List One and will receive all messages sent to List One.

With a dynamic list you add a set of criteria to select students. When ever this list is used the contacts are selected based on the criteria. For example you may add

  • students in class 1A
  • girls in class 3B
  • parents of class 2A
  • parents of boys in 1G

to a list named List Two, now when this is used it will select the current set of students in class 1A, girls in class 3B, parents of class 2A and parents of boys in 1G and send the message to them..

A list defines the set of contacts. When you send the message you choose who within the set to send it to.

If you create a list of students only then when you are sending the message

  • you choose send to students all the students will get the message
  • you choose send to parents all the parents of the students on the list will get the message
  • you choose send to students and parent all the students on the list and the parents of the students on the list will get the message
  • you choose send to primary parents then only one parent for each child will receive the message.

If you create a list of parents only then when you are sending the message

  • you choose send to students all the children attached to these parents will get the message
  • you choose send to parents all the parents on the list will get the message
  • you choose send to students and parent all the parents on the list and the children attached to these parents get the message

If you create a list of students and parents then the result will be the combination of methods above
